We are seeking a Scanning Project Clerk to support the Training and Data Quality (TDQ) Branch of the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Fisheries Monitoring and Research Division (FMRD). This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and organization of fisheries monitoring data. The clerk will oversee the preparation, scanning, entry, and archiving of NEFOP (Northeast Fisheries Observer Program) data logs while also assisting with training records, materials, and data quality initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, scan, and track NEFOP observer data logs for archiving at federal facilities.
- Enter observer trip logs into the Sea Samp program and run data audits to identify and correct entry-related errors.
- Support training initiatives by creating and distributing Observer Training Certificates, Letters of Introduction, and organizing training materials.
- Scan and file trainee records (e.g., CPR certifications, medical clearance, evaluations) and maintain candidate files.
- Assist with data request tracking, comment card management, and release of third-party data requests.
- Support training logistics, including class rosters, agendas, name badges, and supply inventory.
- Maintain records schedules, track observer IT/cybersecurity training, and support TDQ Branch file organization.
- Work independently on assigned tasks while checking in weekly with Task Leads.
- Provide monthly progress reports documenting accomplishments, challenges, and recommendations.
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in data management, scanning, records, or program support.
- Strong data entry skills with demonstrated accuracy in numerical data.
- General computer proficiency; willingness to learn specialized systems (Sea Samp experience preferred).
- Familiarity with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
. - Ability to work collaboratively with diverse interagency teams in a science‑based environment.
- Strong organizational skills with experience in program planning, file management, and performance tracking.
- Knowledge of marine fisheries information programs or scientific data collection preferred.
