Overview
Marine Biological Laboratory seeks an experienced Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO) to join as a member of senior administration. The CFOO will align resources with institutional priorities, develop new revenue streams, harness data-driven financial analysis, champion modernized business practices, and provide leadership across the institution. The CFOO reports to the Director and works with the Board of Trustees to advance financial sustainability and the revised business model.
Responsibilities- Lead finance, human resources, information technology, and facilities/services functions.
- Provide strategic leadership for financial and operational decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for revenue generation and maximize revenue from existing fee-for-service research.
- Support critical fundraising efforts.
- Partner with the Director and senior leaders to align resources with institutional priorities.
- Oversee facilities and operations and ensure operational excellence.
- Deep experience in financial leadership at a complex research institution or equivalent.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and change-management skills.
- Ability to build productive relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
- Understanding of how financial, operational, and administrative functions support scientific discovery and learning.
The role is based in Woods Hole, MA with a hybrid work arrangement; compensation is competitive and based on skills and experience.
