Senior Platform Engineer; GCP

Senior Platform Engineer - GCP (Senior Associate) at Kainos is responsible for leading design of significant components of a modern digital service platform, including automation, build, deployment, and support.

• Demonstrated strong teamwork skills, including experience in a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical issues to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Significant expertise in multiple configuration management, infrastructure provisioning and automation tools.
• Fluency in at least one of the following languages:
  Power Shell, Bash, Python, Ruby, Go, Groovy.
• Experience designing, building, testing, automating, monitoring and supporting critical components within a modern digital service platform in production environments.
• Ability to produce scalable, resilient, efficient, secure, cost‑effective designs that minimize lock‑in.
• Contribution to technical decisions and direction within a collaborative team, including architecture, estimation, product planning, user story/requirement creation and MVP advocacy.
• Implementation of modern continuous delivery processes for deploying software to production.
• Application of industry best practices and patterns across infrastructure and application components (e.g., security, elasticity, performance).
• Experience using public cloud platforms to solve business problems (GCP).
• Application of configuration management, infrastructure provisioning and container orchestration tooling to address business challenges.
• Proficiency with modern version control systems, including Git.
• Debugging complex problems across multiple servers, services and tools.
• Active SC clearance or eligible for clearance.

• Third‑level or equivalent degree in a related discipline.
• Mid‑level certification with a public cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Active participation in knowledge‑sharing activities within the team and to wider non‑technical audiences.
• Experience with cloud‑native SaaS and PaaS technologies.
• Experience managing, mentoring and coaching junior staff.
