North Bristol Academy, based at North Bristol NHS Trust, part of the Bristol Hospital group, is seeking enthusiastic and motivated applicants for the role of Clinical Teaching Fellow in Medical Education, running from 5 August 2026 to 3 August 2027.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior doctor with a genuine interest in medical education to work within a vibrant and supportive undergraduate teaching environment.
AboutThe Role
- Join the dedicated North Bristol Academy teaching team
- Play an active role in organising and delivering undergraduate medical education for University of Bristol medical students
- Support clinical placements, small‑group teaching, assessments, and simulation activities
- Contribute to the ongoing development of high‑quality medical education within the Trust
- Work 37.5 hours per week
As part of the post, you will have the opportunity to undertake a Certificate in Medical Education, supported by a financial contribution from the Academy – ideal for those wishing to build a portfolio career in medical education.

Key Details of the Post- One of seven Academies located at NHS Trusts throughout the Severn region, providing clinical placements for all years of the MB ChB programme.
- Located in the Learning and Research Building of North Bristol Trusts (NBT), Southmead Hospital.
- One‑year fixed‑term post based on 10 sessions per week: 8 within the Academy and 2 in clinical service.
- Educationally sound, well supported and supervised.
- Opportunity to work in a busy, well‑supported undergraduate medical education setting while maintaining a service commitment in a specialty of the post holder’s choice.
- Deliver core curriculum content, act as tutor and Case Based Learning (CBL) facilitator, and participate in assessment of medical students (e.g. OSCEs).
- Act as a role model and mentor to medical students.
- Develop teaching materials and enhance learning within the NBT Clinical Skills Lab and Simulation Space.
- Deliver several types of teaching, including small‑group tutorials, large‑group introductions, bedside teaching, clinical‑skills practicals, and simulation‑based teaching.
- Facilitate inter‑Academy Microsoft Surface Hub sessions and support continuous improvement of the undergraduate curriculum.
