As a Functional Skills Tutor you will become a subject matter expert in Functional skills English and Maths and support learners on Apprenticeship Programmes for the Royal Navy. You will play a key role in improving learner outcomes and career progression, while helping to shape and evolve a growing delivery model.

Functional Skills Tutor (Full-time, 37.5 hours per week)
LocationHMS Collingwood/Portsmouth Dockyards;
Fareham, United Kingdom
Eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
Responsibilities- Deliver functional skills English and maths to Royal Navy apprentices in classroom, in the field (on ships) or providing 1‑2‑1 support.
- Monitor, identify and produce appropriate training documentation.
- Provide tailored support to learners with varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs (e.g., SpLD).
- Responsible for the duty of care of trainees under your control.
- Develop coaching and mentoring skills to support learners.
- Manage general administration tasks.
- Previous experience working in a school or education establishment (e.g., Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Higher Learning Teaching, SEN, Pupil Referral Unit Support or Tutor).
- Level 2 Key/Functional Skills in English and Maths, or an equivalent or above.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Good IT skills using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Desirable:
Experience with educational technology or simulator-based training.
