Ready to play a key role in shaping the next generation of Royal Navy warfare specialists?

We’re looking for a Synthetic Training Operator (STO) to join the team supporting the Royal Navy’s cutting‑edge Maritime Composite Training System (MCTS) — a state‑of‑the‑art simulation and classroom training environment used to deliver world‑class maritime warfare training.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an STO, you’ll sit at the heart of immersive maritime training, helping bring high‑fidelity warfare scenarios to life.

You will:

  • Operate advanced simulation systems across the Warfare Team Trainer (WTT), Classroom-Based Simulation Trainer (CBST) and Electronic Classroom Trainers (ECT).
  • Deliver realistic cues, prompts and scenario control to support instructors and enhance student learning.
  • Work within the Common Synthetic Environment Control (CSEC) room and at operator desks in live training spaces.
  • Support scenario setup, simulator configuration, data collection and system performance observation.
  • Provide essential support to MWS (Collingwood) and FOST (Devonport) instructors and trainees using MCTS systems.
  • Ensure safety, security and high training standards at all times.

What You’ll Bring

We’re looking for people with:

  • A working knowledge of Royal Navy surface ship sensors and weapon systems.
  • Experience with at least one RN Command system (ideally DNA2 and/or CMS).
  • A good understanding of Operations Room Action Information Organisation (AIO).
  • A proactive, flexible approach and the confidence to support instructors and trainees in a dynamic environment.

Why Join Us?

  • Work directly with world-class naval training technology.
  • Play a vital role in developing Royal Navy capability.
  • Enjoy a supportive, collaborative team culture.
  • Benefit from early finishes up to three times per week!
