The Role of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer

They are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design efforts across a variety of complex projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing innovative electrical systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting manufacturing and engineering teams.

This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects within a collaborative environment, contributing to the full lifecycle of electrical design from concept to production.

Responsibilities of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Design and develop electrical systems for complex, bespoke projects.
Create system schematics and circuit diagrams to meet project specifications.
Complete conceptual designs using Solid Works Electrical, build prototypes, and verify designs.
Calculate voltage drops, cable deratings, supply sizes, and protection systems.
Act as the electrical design authority, resolving technical issues and answering design queries.
Present design aspects during reviews and maintain accurate design documentation.
Ensure designs meet UKCA/CE standards, BS EN IEC (phone number removed), and other relevant regulations.
Work with engineering and production teams to verify prototypes and facilitate manufacturing.

Requirements of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Extensive experience in industrial electrical engineering, including complex projects.
Extensive experience designing AC (415V or below) and DC (36V or below) systems, especially in defence or aerospace sectors.
Proficiency in electrical design software, preferably Solid Works Electrical.

Experience with standards such as BS EN 62368, 61010, and military specifications.
Demonstrated ability to lead electrical aspects of projects and mentor team members.
BPSS Security Clearance is required.
