Electrical/Electronics Manufacturing Engineering Technician Apprentice

The Role:We have two apprenticeship roles available in the Sensor Systems Radar business unit in Fareham. As an apprentice you will learn and develop practical skills in the assembly, manufacture and testing of electrical and electronic assemblies and products while working towards a Level 4 Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship and a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:- Carry out testing and validation activities for electronic assemblies, PCBs and products in line with approved procedures and quality standards.
- Manufacture components including soldering, wiring, loom assembly and electrical terminations under supervision.
- Read and understand engineering drawings, electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Assist with fault‑finding activities and investigate product non‑conformances under the guidance of engineers and technicians.
- Maintain manufacturing and test records using company systems and documentation.
- Assist engineers and technicians in manufacturing, testing and engineering activities as part of training and development.
- Develop knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment and quality standards used within production.
- Participate in continuous improvement and workplace organisation activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across engineering, production and quality functions.
- Complete all academic and workplace requirements associated with the Level 4 Engineering Apprenticeship.
Qualifications:
- Level 3 Engineering qualification (Diploma, NVQ, BTEC, T‑level Engineering or equivalent).
- GCSE English Language Grade 6 or above.
- GCSE Mathematics Grade 6 or above.
- OR five GCSEs at Grade 6, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Interest in electrical and electronic assemblies, components and systems.
- Willingness to learn manufacturing, assembly, testing and quality control processes.
- Ability to apply logical thinking to identify and resolve issues with support and guidance.
- Effective communication skills when working with engineers, technicians and production personnel.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures and instructions accurately.
- Hands‑on interest in engineering, electronics, STEM activities or practical projects.
- Relevant certifications, technical hobbies or engineering projects are a plus.
