Position: Mechanical Technician - Contract

As a Mechanical Technician, you'll join a highly skilled production team responsible for assembling, integrating, maintaining, and testing advanced maritime platforms and systems.

Working in a fast-paced engineering environment, you'll play a key role in bringing innovative products from concept to reality, supporting the build and delivery of some of the UK's most advanced autonomous vessels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform mechanical assembly, installation, maintenance, and modification activities
  • Support vessel build, integration, commissioning, and testing programmes
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical faults and technical issues
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities
  • Work from technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
  • Collaborate with electrical, engineering, operations, and quality teams to achieve programme milestones
  • Maintain accurate records and build documentation
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across production and engineering activities
Qualifications and Experience
  • Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Boat Building, or a related discipline
  • Strong hands‑on mechanical assembly, maintenance, or installation experience
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and engineering standards
  • Experience working within marine engineering environments
  • Strong problem‑solving and fault‑finding capability
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Boat building or marine vessel construction experience
  • Composite structures and assemblies experience
  • Mechanical integration and commissioning experience
  • Prototype or low‑volume production experience
  • Experience operating within regulated engineering environments
