Salary range
£27,000 – £30,000, dependent on experience.
Working hoursFull‑time, 40 hours per week (8:00 am to 4:30 pm). A 37.5‑hour contract (ending at 4:00 pm) may be considered for the right candidate.
LocationOffice based in Whiteley, Fareham PO15 with on‑site parking.
About the roleWe are working with a trusted national Fire and Security business, part of the Croma Group, to find a proactive, detail‑driven Sales Ledger Clerk to join our finance team. This role is key to maintaining accurate customer accounts, ensuring timely cash collection and supporting the smooth running of the finance function through general accounts administration.
Key responsibilities- Maintain the sales ledger, including accurate posting of sales invoices and receipts.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Manage credit control, monitoring customer accounts and credit limits.
- Chase overdue payments in a professional and timely manner.
- Resolve customer queries related to invoices and payments.
- Allocate cash receipts and maintain clear audit trails.
- Assist with month‑end processes, including reporting and reconciliations.
- Support general accounts administration (filing and maintaining financial records, assisting with queries from internal stakeholders, providing ad‑hoc support to the wider finance team as required).
- Previous experience in a sales ledger, accounts receivable or similar finance role.
- Strong experience with bank reconciliations and credit control processes.
- Good working knowledge of accounting systems and Excel.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, confident dealing with customers and internal teams.
- Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines.
- AAT qualified or studying towards AAT (preferred).
- Relevant accounting or finance experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualification.
- AAT training and study support available for the successful applicant.
