About the Senior Tax Manager role
Salary – £65,000 - £80,000 depending on experience
Hours – Full or part-time hours considered. Full-time hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday
Working arrangements – Hybrid working, with an expectation of attending the Whiteley office three to four days per week
Holiday – 23 days’ annual leave (excluding bank holidays), increasing by one day for each year of service, up to a maximum of five additional days

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and technically strong Senior Tax Manager to join our central tax team, based in our Whiteley office. Working closely with the Group Head of Tax and Tax Partners, you will take a leading role in providing technical tax support to partner firms across TC Group. You will assist with complex tax advisory projects, technical reviews, quality control, acquisition due diligence, internal tax matters and the development of Group-wide tax policies and guidance.
This is a broad general practitioner role requiring excellent corporation tax knowledge and a strong understanding of other areas of UK taxation.
The role does not involve the day-to-day management of a traditional client portfolio. This internal focus also means no timesheets!
Key responsibilities will include:Technical and advisory support
- Overseeing the Group’s tax helpdesks and providing support on complex technical queries raised by partner firms
- Leading or providing technical oversight on complex tax advisory projects undertaken for partner firms
- Reviewing technical advice to ensure it is accurate, practical and communicated clearly
- Undertaking detailed technical research across multiple areas of UK taxation
- Supporting Tax Partners and other senior stakeholders with complex or higher-risk tax matters
- Providing particular technical leadership in relation to UK corporation tax
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across accounts, audit, VAT and other specialist teams
- Overseeing or reviewing corporation tax computations and returns for partner firms and TC Group companies
- Supporting the Group’s internal tax reporting and compliance requirements
- Reviewing internal tax matters, including P11
Ds and other employment tax obligations - Identifying internal tax risks and ensuring appropriate actions are agreed and completed
- Leading internal cold and hot file reviews across corporate and personal tax
- Undertaking corporation tax reviews for complex or higher-risk clients of partner firms
- Completing and overseeing tax quality control procedures across the Group
- Reporting review findings clearly and agreeing appropriate remedial actions with partner firms
- Identifying recurring technical or procedural issues and developing practical solutions
- Preparing and delivering training sessions in key areas of tax
- Assisting with the development and implementation of Group-wide tax procedures, checklists and quality standards
- Playing an active role in the Group’s tax committee
- Monitoring changes in tax legislation, case law and HMRC practice
- Assessing the practical implications of tax developments for TC Group and its partner firms
- Preparing technical briefings and updates for circulation across the Group
- Attending regular committee meetings to discuss technical developments, internal policies and best practice
- Supporting the development and consistent application of the Group’s tax policies
- Taking a leading role in the tax due diligence process for potential acquisitions
- Completing and reviewing red-flag assessments of client tax files and target firms’ own tax affairs
- Identifying material tax risks, quality concerns and areas requiring remediation
