Software Support Engineer

Our client, a prominent player in the defence and security sector, is looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Software Support Engineer to join their team in Fareham, UK. This is a permanent position with a focus on supporting cutting‑edge uncrewed vehicles (drones) for dual‑use applications across air, land, and sea.

To be eligible for this role, you must be able to meet the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). This includes confirming your identity, legal right to work in the UK, recent employment history, and criminal record (unspent convictions only). • Provide timely and effective technical support to the Production team
• Gather and analyse feedback to identify potential issues and improvement opportunities
• Troubleshoot and resolve software issues

• Develop and execute test cases to ensure software quality and reliability
• Identify and report software defects and performance issues
• Collaborate with development teams to improve software quality and reduce defects

• Participate in small‑scale software development tasks, including bug fixes, feature enhancements, and code maintenance
• Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code
• Collaborate with other developers to ensure code quality and consistency

• Create and maintain clear and concise technical documentation, such as data sheets and user manuals
• Ensure documentation is accurate, up‑to‑date, and easily understandable

• Experience in C++ programming
• Familiarity with Linux systems and tools required
• Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with software testing and quality assurance methodologies
• Experience in writing technical documentation
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evening meetings to collaborate with the New Zealand team
