IT Support & Repair Technician

We're looking for an experienced IT Support & Repair Engineer to join our team in Fareham.

This is a varied, hands-on position working across both ARK Computer Repair and ARK Assist, supporting home users and local businesses.

You won't spend every day sitting on a helpdesk. You might be diagnosing a faulty laptop in our workshop in the morning, visiting a local business to resolve an IT problem in the afternoon, and remotely helping another customer with Microsoft 365 or Windows in between.

We're looking for someone who already has practical IT support or computer repair experience and can confidently diagnose and resolve problems. There will also be plenty of opportunity to develop your skills in other areas of business IT.

• Diagnosing and repairing PCs and laptops in our Fareham workshop
• Carrying out hardware repairs, upgrades and component replacements
• Diagnosing Windows, software, driver and performance problems
• Windows installations, recovery and troubleshooting
• SSD upgrades, data transfers, backups and new computer setups
• Visiting homes and businesses to carry out on‑site repairs and IT support
• Providing remote support to home and small business customers
• Troubleshooting Microsoft 365, Outlook, One Drive and Windows
• Diagnosing Wi‑Fi, networking, internet and printer problems
• Setting up and preparing new computers for customers
• Keeping clear records of work carried out and keeping customers updated
• Working with the rest of our team on more complex problems and projects

Although workshop repairs will form a significant part of the role, this isn't purely a bench technician position. You'll regularly work directly with customers and need to be comfortable providing support in person, over the telephone and remotely.

Previous professional IT support or computer repair experience is required for this position.

We're looking for someone who can already confidently troubleshoot common hardware and software problems rather than someone starting their first IT role.

You should have good practical experience with:

• Windows 10 and Windows 11
• PC and laptop diagnostics
• Computer hardware and component replacement
• Windows installation and recovery
• Data transfer and backup
• Microsoft 365 and Outlook
• Wi‑Fi and basic networking
• Printers and peripherals
• Working directly with customers

Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, business IT support, networking, Uni Fi or managed IT services would be useful, but we don't expect you to arrive knowing every system we use.

A full UK driving licence is essential. A company car will be provided for customer visits.

Technical ability is important, but a large part of this job is dealing with people.

Our customers range from people who are very comfortable with technology to people who simply know that something isn't working. Being able to diagnose the problem matters, but being able to explain what's happening in straightforward language matters too.

We're looking for someone who is friendly and patient, comfortable dealing directly with customers and enjoys troubleshooting rather than simply following a script.

You’ll need to be able to work independently and use your initiative, while also knowing when it's worth asking someone else for another opinion. We want someone who's naturally curious about technology and wants to continue learning.

We don't expect you to know everything. We do expect you to be able to investigate a problem, work logically and find the answer.
