We are looking for experienced Technical Authors (Manufacturing Execution System) to join our manufacturing team on a three month contract. This is a hands on role working closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams to capture manufacturing processes and create clear, accurate digital work instructions within our Manufacturing Execution System (Visual Factory).
Key responsibilities- Observe and document manufacturing, assembly, inspection and test processes.
- Create and maintain digital work instructions within the MES platform.
- Capture and incorporate photographs and visual aids into technical documentation.
- Work closely with operators and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy.
- Support the review and continuous improvement of manufacturing documentation.
- Previous experience as a Technical Author, Technical Writer, Manufacturing Engineer, or similar role.
- Experience creating manufacturing work instructions, SOPs or production documentation.
- Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working on the shop floor and engaging directly with production teams.
- Proficient in photography and image editing.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), ideally Visual Factory.
- Background in defence, marine, aerospace, automotive or other engineering/manufacturing environments.
- Onsite car park
- Ability to achieve SC clearance
- Evidence of right to work in the UK
- Five years' residency in the UK
