- Fargo division

$33.40+/hr PLUS $21.90/hr Fringe (goes towards Health and Pension)

60-70 hours a week Mon-Sat Seasonal May-Nov

Must pass drug test!

Operate and maintain asphalt paver machine to spread and level paving material on roads, highways, parking lots and streets. Responsible for the efficient working condition of the paver and is expected to perform maintenance and minor servicing. Take instruction from Foreman/Superintendent and assist with groundwork when required. The highest quality of workmanship is expected in assigned paving projects while working in a safe, productive and professional manner.

• Complete daily visual and safety inspection of paver to ensure safe operation.
• Perform machine start–up and shut down essential to proper operation of paver. Manipulate and adjust hand or foot levers to control movement of paving machine.
• Operate paver and control asphalt delivery to and placement by the paver to mitigate mix segregation and support screed operator to maintain required asphalt thickness and smoothness.
• Observe and control material taken into the paver and depths of material distributed in the process of spreading and leveling asphalt material. Ensure asphalt is level with no gaps or dips in covered area.
• Communicate with dump man and screed operator to facilitate consistent speed and uniform distribution of asphalt.
• Help guide and direct dump trucks while backing to machine hopper.
• Perform maintenance checks and minor servicing to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
• Inform the Superintendent and Mechanic crew about repair and maintenance needs for equipment on assigned jobs.
• Ensure that safety, compliance, environmental and OSHA requirements are followed at all times.
• Relate to co-workers and the general public in a courteous and respectful manner.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties when necessary.
