** Sanford Health is currently seeking a Medical Geneticist to join our growing and highly collaborative specialty team at Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Current genetics team consists of: one medical geneticist specializing in the areas of medical genetics, and metabolism; eight genetic counselors serving multiple specialty clinics; two nurse navigators, dietitians, medical assistants, and other support staff.
Primary area of practice in general medical genetics, with an opportunity for involvement in newborn screening and management of children and adults with inborn metabolic disorders.
Support from the region’s largest team of more than 65 board-certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric specialists.

** Job Description
** Medical Genetics Core Privileges include the ability to perform history and physical examination, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment of patients of all age with genetic or possibly genetically linked, diseases or disorders by using molecular genetics, cytogenetic, radiologic, and biochemical testing to assist in specialized genetic counseling and implementing needed therapeutic interventions and prevention through prenatal diagnosis.
** Qualifications
* * M.D. or D.O. degree.
Experience can be demonstrated in one of the following ways and should be reflective of the privileges being requested:  An applicant who has just completed a residency shall provide his/her residency or fellowship log.  OR  An applicant who is not applying directly out of a residency or fellowship shall provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where he/she currently has privileges showing his/her clinical activity for the past 12 months, including numbers of procedures, morbidity, mortality, infection rates and other complications.

The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement 25 Medical Genetics cases in the past 12 months.  OR  If a quality profile is not available from the hospital(s) where the applicant currently has privileges, documentation of the applicant’s clinical activity for the past 12 months is required. The applicant must be able to demonstrate active involvement 25 Medical Genetics cases in the past 12 months.
More education and experience may be required the more advanced the practice becomes.
Successful completion of an ACGME-residency program in a primary medical specialty followed by successful completion of an accredited ACGME residency in clinical medical genetics OR Successful completion of a four-year ACGME accredited residency program in clinical medical genetics. Training at residency and fellowship programs accredited by organizations other than the above, may be considered via the waiver of eligibility process as defined in the Credentialing Policy.
Certification by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable. Those applicants who are not board certified at the time of application…
