Group 2 from $18.06 to $22.48 per hour
Coordinates activities to ensure smooth operation of the Library.
Responsibilities- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, and students.
- Checks materials in and out on the electronic circulation, including overdue items.
- Shelves and files materials.
- Keeps media center in neat order throughout the day.
- Supervises/Assists students and staff while in the library.
- Answers the telephone and takes messages.
- Bookkeeping functions for lost and missing materials.
- Runs the television distribution system and videotapes drop-feeds from PPTV.
- Unpacks, checks in, and displays new materials.
- Orders materials and distributes from other sources, including preview items through DIR.
- Keeps track of where materials and equipment are located and maintains a computer database for such.
- Maintains and updates the database of patrons in the electronic catalog.
- Checks in magazines, prepares them for accessibility, and routes appropriate ones each month.
- Assists in troubleshooting audiovisual & electronic equipment (five minute fixes) and software programs used for instruction and management.
- Reserves audiovisual and electronic equipment, maintains inventory for staff, and is able to demonstrate usage.
- Assists the Library Media Specialist with acquisitions/materials following protocols.
- Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to communicate with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians
- Basic academic and computer skills
- Experience in libraries and basic knowledge of library operations
- Experience working or volunteering in a school setting
- Experience with computers and AV devices, computer and AV operations, connecting computer and AV peripherals, computer software applications, online resources, and general electronic troubleshooting.
