Sr VDC Coordinator – Jacobs

About the RoleAt Jacobs, we’re transforming ideas into innovative solutions designed for the future. This role is based on-site at our Baton Rouge, LA location and involves working in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment closely with clients in the Data Center market.
This opportunity is available at any location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. office, but we intend to hire the "best" candidates wherever possible.
Responsibilities- Conduct preliminary assessments and concept creation for wireless systems.
- Lead designs with support from peers, SMEs, and BIM designers.
- Manage internal and external problem resolution.
- Create drawing and specification production.
- Ensure customer and vendor accessibility.
- Design and provide technical leadership of systems for data center buildings, including Commercial DAS, Public Safety DAS, LMR, Site Radio, RoIP, Wi‑Fi, and Tower Studies.
- Design wireless systems in iBwave and EDX.
- Coordinate with BIM designers to produce drawing packages.
- Coordinate with AHJ’s, radio system owners, and carriers.
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits and review technical documents.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems (LMR 2‑way radio, Site Radio, RoIP, Public Safety DAS, Commercial DAS).
- Experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner, or equivalent modeling programs.
- Experience working with clients to identify wireless communications needs.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams.
- Knowledge of Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss, and VSWR.
- Ability to optimize networks in design and installation.
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, NFPA 1225, IFC section 510, Carrier KPI’s, IBC, FCC part 20, part 90, and FCC OET bulletin 65.
- Knowledge of MOTOTRBO systems and Motorola R56 installation standards.
- Experience with DMR Tier III.
- Familiarity with Navisworks.
- Excellent project management, budgeting, scheduling, and risk‑mitigation skills.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- EDX or Motorola design certifications.
- FCC GROL.
- NICET Design Certification.
- Multiple OEM product certifications.
- Electrical Engineering or Communications Engineering degree.
- EIT or PE status.
