CDM Smith is hiring Automation and Instrumentation & Controls Professionals. You will support our public, private, and federal clients worldwide across all phases of SCADA automation projects.
ResponsibilitiesCreates and/or oversees basic to highly complex instrumentation, controls, and related systems designs using 3D and 4D practices; develops technical memoranda and prepares preliminary design reports (PDRs) under limited supervision; coordinates design reconciliation with clients; creates HMI designs, PLC, reports and prepares LOEs; assists in testing, startup, and training of end users.
Reviews component‑level shop drawings, contractor clarifications, performs and/or oversees testing and field inspections; completes required testing and startup documentation.
Leads teams of junior staff, provides direction and mentoring; reviews junior work; engages in the Automation Community of Practice (CoP) to become a subject‑matter expert in areas such as communications, networking, instrumentation, or security.
Under general supervision, prepares proposal sections, presentations, scope, and budgets; supports marketing and new business activities as requested; may participate in proposals.
Performs other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 7 years of related experience (or equivalent direct experience in lieu of a degree)
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on duties.
- Experience with water/wastewater projects
- Experience with in an engineering or integration firm
- Expert knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and related system design; PLC and HMI experience required.
- Excellent communication and client‑relations skills.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Full competency in 3D and 4D design practices.
Minimum: $104,229 | Maximum: $182,374
Work LocationHybrid work options may be considered.
