Position SummaryThe Construction Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager with coordination and monitoring of engineering and construction activities for nation-wide medium and high voltage electrical construction projects in the Renewable and Utility industries.
Location & TravelThis is an on-site position in our Fargo, ND office. Expected travel for this position is 25%.
EssentialJob Duties And Responsibilities
- Coordinate with project managers, construction managers, engineers, material suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure effective project execution of high voltage infrastructure projects including substations, overhead/underground transmission lines, switchyards, and related facilities.
- Assist the on-site construction management teams with various tasks and provide them with the necessary design plans, quantities, and parameters to execute the project.
- Assist Project Managers with various office operations including timecard management, material quantity takeoffs, material quotation solicitation, and purchase order creation.
- Assist Project Managers with various project management functions including project scheduling, quantity/production tracking, submittal management, and RFI (Request for Information) management.
- Interpret and review technical drawings and engineering deliverables to ensure materials comply with approved specifications and contract documents.
- Attend meetings with clients, engineers, subcontractors, or other project stakeholders and take notes identifying action items and follow‑up requirements.
- Work with estimating team and project management team to quantify and develop cost estimates for new scopes and requested change orders.
- Must be hard‑working, passionate, inquisitive, and have the willingness to perform any task that is required (even if it is not listed above).
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and time management skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and work in field conditions as required.
- Knowledge and experience with medium and/or high voltage substations, collection systems, and/or transmission lines preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and understand engineered drawings and blueprints.
- Attention to detail with organizational and critical data analysis skills.
