Overview
JOB TITLE: PV&V Electrification Test Engineer
JOB TYPE: W2 Contract
LOCATION: Fargo, ND, Onsite
INDUSTRY: Agriculture Manufacturing
- Test engineer responsibilities include using lab equipment and analyzing data. Work with a cross-functional design team, particularly in power electronics, to determine testing requirements for client and OEM products.
- Perform, with some assistance, test procedures, motor characterization, battery testing JDQ tests and reports.
- Work with one-on-one supervision to meet quality, delivery and cost goals. Apply technical judgment, teamwork and independent thinking to solve problems and complete assigned projects.
- Gather and format test requirements from internal and external customers with assistance from others. Review and provide proper feedback about the requirements.
- Perform and oversee, with assistance, the performance of power electronic Product Verification and Validation testing performed internally or externally.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of testing results and schedule progress. Communicate results and schedule progress to internal and external customers.
- Employ troubleshooting and debugging strategies; determine root cause with support from others and provide support in troubleshooting.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
- Work closely with other project team members as needed to ensure testing is performed as specified in the product specifications.
- Travel as needed to accomplish the tasks required of this position, including meeting with customers to generate and/or revise concepts and product requirements. Travel could be 1 or 2 times a year and would always be in the USA. No international travel.
- Support other needs of the department as needed.
- Minimum B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Ag Engineering, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited engineering program or equivalent.
Required
- Understanding of the basics of embedded controllers
- Understanding of safe higher voltage practices
- Understanding of motor control and system testing
- Understanding of the basics of design validation
- Good written and verbal communications skills (English)
- Good organization skills (multi-tasking)
- Good customer service skills
Desired
- Experience with product development
- Understanding of motor control software (PU2)
- Experience with dynos
- Experience with development and debugging tools (e.g. oscilloscopes, multi-meters, etc.)
- Experience with microcontroller peripherals and systems (e.g. PWM outputs, boot loaders, A/D converters, serial and parallel interfaces, etc.)
- Experience with communication networks (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, RS-232/485, etc.)
- Experience with communication protocols (e.g. J1939, ISO
11783, TCP/IP, etc.)
