Abb Vie is seeking a field‑based Specialty Representative for gastroenterology in the Fargo, ND region. Candidates should reside within a reasonable distance of the primary city.
Base Pay Range$78,500.00/yr - $/yr

Job DescriptionThis role is field‑based and covers Fargo, Bismarck, Sioux Falls, SD, and the surrounding areas. The Specialty Representative will execute brand strategy and tactics in field, manage assigned territory and targeted accounts, build strong customer relationships, and serve the patient at the center of all efforts while operating within Abb Vie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws.
Responsibilities- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed expectations.
- Create pre‑call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance.
- Proactively serve customer needs and build trusted relationships to achieve win‑win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
- Develop and execute a call plan that maximizes access and sales opportunities through optimized coverage and frequency.
- Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, and disease state experts, and share this intelligence with in‑field and brand teams.
- Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition and identify, develop, and maintain disease state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy or business‑related field preferred or equivalent industry experience required.
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, at least five (5) years of experience with three (3) or more years in the pharmaceutical/health/science industry, and a high school diploma/GED required.
- In‑depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools.
- Proven track record of success in selling and solid presentation skills; adaptable to customer style and behavior.
- Influences others and is viewed as a credible role model; builds collaborative partnerships with district colleagues and matrix teams.
- Documented success in leadership and support roles of increased responsibility at district, region, and/or organizational levels.
- Preferred:
Proven track record of sales performance within respective therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account‑based selling, training, managed health care or marketing. - English language proficiency verbally and in writing (for all non‑English speaking countries).
- Essential requirement: satisfy all applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and remain in good standing.
- External:
Specialty Physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and others depending on brand plan. - Internal:
In‑field team members, Sales Management (DSM), Marketing Management, Training, Customer Excellence, and Brand Plan stakeholders.
- The compensation range described is a base pay estimate based on the job grade. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location.
