SummaryThe Fargo VA Health Care System is recruiting for one full‑time Social Worker to provide care to inpatient medical/surgical units under the Social Work department.
Qualifications- United States Citizenship. Non‑citizens may be appointed only when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy.
- Master’s degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). A doctoral degree may not substitute for the master’s degree.
- Licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master’s level. VHA may waive the licensure requirement for persons otherwise qualified pending completion of state prerequisites at GS‑9; GS‑11 and higher require licensure.
- Proficient in spoken and written English as specified in VA Handbook 5005.
- Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities, including a veteran‑centric approach, psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, effective communication, and medical/mental health knowledge.
- Provide social work services to Veterans on inpatient medical/surgical units.
- Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments of patients, families, and support systems.
- Evaluate patients identified as "at risk" and determine need for psychosocial intervention.
- Collaborate with the care team, advocate for patients, and coordinate community resources.
- Offer consultative services to VA staff and community partners.
- Assist with primary care, mental health, and other area coverage as needed.
- Perform clinical case consultation and support effective treatment planning.
- Meet operational objectives under the Primary Care Social Work Supervisor.

Benefits- Base pay range: $61,722–$97,087 per year.
- Paid time off: 37–50 days per year (13–26 days leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays).

Eligible after 60 days; up to 25% of costs for families with income below $144,000. - Retirement:
