Experience:
2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting License:
Active RN License (North Dakota or Compact)
Certifications:
BLS (AHA) Must-Have: 2 years of nursing experience in a large hospital setting. Experience in a busy trauma center. Active BLS certification.
Experience with EPIC electronic medical records. Willingness to float to all medical-surgical units as needed. Travel experience is highly preferred.
Description:
Nurses care for medically complex hematology/oncology patients. Patients may require blood products, antibiotics, and symptom/side effect management. Nurses perform head-to-toe assessments and administer medications. Communication with the interdisciplinary team is essential. Nurses update patients and their families regarding care plans. If trained, nurses may be assigned to administer chemotherapy. Equipment utilized includes electronic medical records, patient monitors, glucometers, and more. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for patients receiving chemotherapy or bone marrow transplant, and 1:4-5 for regular oncology patients.
Training includes classroom sessions followed by hands-on unit training. Navy blue scrubs are required for this position. No on-call hours are required, and floating to other units is expected.
