Travel RN - Med​/Surg Float Pool

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring ND or compact RN license and experience in a large, fast-paced acute care hospital.

• Active ND RN license or compact state license
• BLS certification (AHA) and NIHSS required
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med Surg experience in a large hospital with 200+ beds required
• Float pool experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience working in a Level 2 or higher trauma center required
• Experience working in a fast-paced hospital with 250+ beds required

• Acute care setting within a Level 1 trauma center
• Float pool position covering all med-surg units across Broadway, SMCF, and South University campuses in Fargo
• Floats to med-surg overflow spaces and med-surg status patients within critical care units
• Covers specialty units including oncology, general med-surg, trauma med-surg, cardiac, neuro, observation, medical behavioral, and innovations
• Units range from 24-47 beds depending on assignment
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4-5 from 7a-11p and 1:5-6 from 11p-7a
• Uses Epic EMR, Accudose Rx, Alaris IV pumps, and Philips vitals machines
• 4x12 hour day shifts, will consider 36 hours, every other weekend and holiday required
• Daily call-in required to determine unit assignment for that shift
• Perform head-to-toe assessments, medication administration via multiple routes, care plan formulation and documentation, and wound/line/drain care
• Orientation includes one full shift on a Broadway med-surg unit and one full shift on an SMCF med-surg unit, plus team expectations and campus tours during week one
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must badge in and out at the facility
• First-time travelers will be considered only if their primary experience is in resource pool or float pool
• Candidates with prior employment at Sanford Health must have an end date at least 6 months prior to submission
• Not eligible for candidates living within 60 miles of the facility
• Candidates living 60 to 80 miles from the facility are eligible under a reduced local travel rate
