Your impact

We’re hiring an Associate Material Controller for Advanced Manufacturing at our Spartanburg, South Carolina location. This role performs materials management activities for major capital equipment and materials under close supervision or defined procedures, supporting Jacobs’ projects and reporting directly to the Manager of Supply Chain Integration, Life Sciences North America.

Here’s What You’ll Do
  • Develop an understanding of material control processes, procedures, tools, procurement principles, and supplier relationship expectations.
  • Utilize established policies, procedures, systems, and tools.
  • Review Shipment Release Request related supplier documentation and ensure shipment authorizations comply with purchase orders and execution plans.
  • Advise stakeholders on creating shipment releases and explain the shipment authorization process.
  • Administer Material Receiving Reports (MRRs), Material Issue Requests (MIRs), and Over Shipment/Under Shipment/Damaged Reports (OS&Ds).
  • Maintain a register of materials requiring preservation activities.
  • Evaluate facts surrounding material control issues and apply remedies.
  • Maintain material control documentation in a repository.
  • Identify and advise management of material control related risks.
  • Participate in the coordination of OS&D resolution.
  • Work under close supervision; no direct reports.
  • Coordinate with project or departmental personnel to perform material control activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction, supply chain, operations management, or equivalent project experience.
  • 2–5 years of experience in capital equipment material control preferred.
  • Experience in Advanced Manufacturing (or related industry) projects ideal.
  • Experience using MS Office (intermediate to advanced Excel skills).
  • 2+ years of experience with Materials Management or Enterprise Purchasing Systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, Smart Materials) preferred.
  • Expressed interest in pursuing a career in Construction Management or Procurement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team‑oriented and able to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills.
  • Drive to solve complex, challenging problems.
  • Ability to work on‑site in Spartanburg, SC.
