Golf Course 1st Assistant (Edgewood/El Zagal)

Work closely with the Superintendent to manage general turf maintenance and playing conditions on the golf course. Oversee irrigation systems, assist with chemical applications, operate and maintain equipment, and supervise full and part‑time staff.

• In the absence of the Superintendent, fulfill their responsibilities.
• Supervise staff, assign daily work, and make field decisions on job procedures, standards, and equipment use. Train staff on monitoring, maintenance, and servicing of equipment.
• Assist with instruction and application of herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and other chemicals related to turf maintenance.
• Oversee and operate the irrigation systems.
• Operate and maintain all equipment related to golf course maintenance safely and efficiently; assist with daily set‑up of the golf course and equipment.
• Perform other duties as directed by the Superintendent.

• Keep supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
• Maintain a professional working relationship with staff.
• Carry out duties safely to maintain a safe work environment for oneself, co‑workers, and the public; respond to hazardous situations promptly.
• Perform related duties as assigned or apparent.
• Due to the seasonal nature, winter job assignments are described separately.

• Four‑year degree in Turf Management with 1–2 years experience.
• Two‑year degree in Turf Management with 3–5 years experience.
• Minimum of five years progressive golf‑course experience.

• Valid driver’s license.
• North Dakota Pesticide Applicators license (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
• Class B CDL with Tanker endorsement.
