Overview
The Social Worker – Child Protection Assessment/Investigation works to protect the children of Rice County by assessing and investigating reports of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, mental abuse and neglect of children. The Incumbent assesses the potential or actual risk level of maltreatment to children and takes appropriate actions to ensure child safety. Work is performed while maintaining confidentiality and pursuant to all applicable state statutes.
Responsibilities- Screens all child protection reports received by the agency with a team of assessment/investigative workers and supervisor. Determines if reports meet statutory guidelines for assessment/investigation.
- Completes a family assessment and/or investigation in accordance with MN statutes.
- Completes and maintains required documentation for casework. Documentation includes but is not limited to audio/video recordings, physical/photographic evidence, criminal background checks, SSIS state search, past child protection/social service records, parenting and other assessments.
- Performs crisis intervention as needed.
- Attends training sessions, staff and community meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
The job requires a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related human services field, and two years of supervised experience as a child protection worker or equivalent. Valid driver’s license required.
Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Social Work, and two years of supervised experience as a child protection worker or a related social services field within the last five years, or equivalent is preferred.
Hiring Range / Union$36.01 - $37.65 per hour / SS Unit – Grade 12
HoursNormal working hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
