Trystar’s team members are our most important asset. The Staff Engineer – Sustaining Mechanical Engineering will support and improve maintenance series production products, track and troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, implement engineering changes, and support new product manufacturing introduction across local and enterprise-wide products.
Responsibilities- Create, improve, and facilitate legacy product engineering documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOM), 3D models, and drawings.
- Conduct root cause analysis to resolve issues and implement corrective actions as part of the continuous improvement program.
- Support a smooth handover of new products from engineering to manufacturing by participating in DFM/DFA reviews and ensuring lessons learned adherence.
- Generate, track, and coordinate Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for production, collaborating with internal teams.
- Identify, promote, and implement modularity within products to improve design efficiency.
- Vet new opportunities and recommend product changes or improvements to enhance manufacturability and reduce cost.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent.
- 15+ years of experience in manufacturing floor support or product design.
- Experience in engineering detailed drawings and BOM in a highly customized manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced environment.
- Highly motivated, fast learner with exceptional attention to detail who thrives in a team environment.
- Experience with engineering change implementation.
- Experience with complex electro-mechanical assemblies in Solid Works or other CAD systems.
- Sheet metal part design and fabrication experience.
- Experience with electromechanical systems, including electrical schematics, symbols, and basic electrical theory.
- Implementing ASME Y14.5 and GD&T standards to drawings, identifying critical dimensions according to tolerance stack analysis and manufacturing process capabilities.
- Experience with ERP, PLM, and Engineering Vault software (PDM).
- DFM/DFA and new product introduction experience.
- Attention to detail, and hands‑on support to manufacturing.
- Support manufacturing in defining corrective and preventive actions, ensuring enterprise‑wide adherence of best practices and lessons learned.
- Up to 10% travel to different Trystar locations, suppliers, and/or customers.
- Work in accordance with all company policies and procedures regarding employment, safety, quality, product safety, legality, security, and regulatory compliance.
