Job SummaryApplied Engineering seeks an experienced Electrical Systems Design Engineer to design AC electrical system products for power distribution equipment such as switch gear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, and generators. The role involves creating schematics, layouts and technical documentation to support manufacturing, testing, certification and customer requirements. Responsibilities include specifying safe prototype testing practices, selecting and validating components based on NEC, UL and other industry standards, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams, suppliers and stakeholders to meet performance, compliance and operational goals.
Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (required)
- 4+ years of professional experience in electrical design engineering
- Proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Solid Works Electrical, EPlan, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards and compliance requirements
- Experience designing to electrical specifications for power distribution equipment (switch gear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, generators)
- Ability to create detailed technical documentation and specify safe testing practices
- NFPA 70E certification and experience with UL891, UL1558, UL508, UL1008, UL9540 and related standards strongly preferred
- Capable of working independently and as a team member
