SummaryDirect Support Professionals provide direct care, supervision, and supportive living services to individuals who reside in our group homes. DSPs are expected to work within and promote the principles of a person‑centered approach. They may be assigned to work various day, evening, or late‑night shifts and are required to be available from time to time on a hold‑over or on‑call basis to provide round‑the‑clock awake coverage at group homes.
ScheduleWork anywhere from 8 to 40 hours a week, including at least every other Saturday and Sunday, plus filling in on holidays as needed. Example shifts: 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, or 10:00 PM–8:00 AM for overnight positions.
Wage$16.50 per hour for part‑time and $17.00 per hour for full‑time. Evening and overnight shifts receive an extra $2.00 per hour shift differential. This position is eligible for a $1,000 retention bonus.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Provide direct care for others in an individualized and meaningful way.
- Assist in personal cares.
- Engage in community activities such as bowling, shopping, watching a movie, or exercising.
- Complete daily direct care tasks such as bathing, toileting, feeding, and dressing.
- Perform household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance in all communications to HMC.
- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must hold a valid United States driver’s license and pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier unless otherwise noted.
- Must pass the MN Department of Human Services background study.
- Have off‑duty access to an operable telephone.
- Demonstrate maturity to work with individuals served and co‑workers.
- Have the ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Have the ability to safely perform essential duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Prior experience with individuals with disabilities is preferred.
- Meet any other requirements set by licensure rules and regulations or other laws.
