The lifeguard is responsible for maintaining a safe, pleasant swimming environment. To provide the necessary supervision to prevent accidents both in the water and on the pool deck area. To perform rescues and respond with emergency care for the accident victim.
The Lifeguard should possess these qualities: enthusiasm, helpfulness, friendliness, dependability, and professionalism. Must be able to get along with various types of people. You will be responsible for handling emergencies and securing the facility when there is no full-time staff on duty.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Must possess current American Red Cross CPR, standard First Aid, and Red Cross Lifeguard certifications.
- Must be a responsible individual who can calmly respond to emergency situations in a thorough, professional manner.
Works under the general supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USEDEmergency pool equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit and talk or hear use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in indoor and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, and moderately loud when in the program setting.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT PROCESSThe City of Faribault conducts a thorough pre-employment process for incumbents joining the organization. This process may include professional reference checks, employment verification, assessment testing, criminal history check, and driver’s check (must have valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record). All final candidates must successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of all pre-employment results before their first day of employment.
