Career and Transfer Skills Development Specialist
Dallas College is seeking a Career and Transfer Skills Development Specialist to provide comprehensive employment, career and transfer planning services to students and alumni. The role focuses on helping students plan for their futures, ensuring career readiness upon departure, and guiding those preparing for transfer to four‑year institutions.
Position SummaryThe Specialist delivers high‑quality support services, including resume development, interview coaching, personal brand development, and assistance with internships, jobs, and transfer applications. The position requires a self‑starter mindset, strong engagement with students, and collaboration with internal and external partners to promote effective career and transfer skill development.
Key Responsibilities- Support students in creating career preparation plans and developing skills such as resume creation, interview coaching, and networking.
- Facilitate application processes for internships, jobs, and transfers, including assistance with scholarships.
- Co‑design and deliver workshops and seminars on career exploration, job search tools, and soft skills.
- Coordinate goal‑oriented initiatives such as career and transfer fairs.
- Leverage technology to monitor and track student progress and program effectiveness.
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to enhance student experience and remove barriers to career and transfer success.
- Prepare reports, proposals, and recommendations for program improvement.
- Maintain regulatory compliance and promote a customer‑service focused environment.
- Participate in professional development and complete required training hours.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or an Associate’s degree with at least two years of experience in career development, transfer services, or a related field.
- Current and valid Texas driver’s license.
- Official transcripts required.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse community of students, staff, and partners.
- Strong writing, speaking, presenting, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with educational technology and collaboration tools.
- Experience in program evaluation and student outcome assessment.
- Capable of responding effectively to a dynamic educational environment.
- Knowledge of community college mission, guided pathways, and student success best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with two years’ experience in career development, transfer, or a related field.
- Current and valid Texas driver’s license.
- Official transcripts required.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
- Will be subject to a criminal background check; some positions may require a fingerprint check.
