The PLC Engineer is responsible for developing, testing, and programming electronic control systems for mission‑critical environments using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). This role supports the design, implementation, startup, and commissioning of automation systems that control HVAC and critical infrastructure, working closely with clients, field teams, and project stakeholders to ensure reliable system performance.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with clients to understand mechanical and electrical automation requirements
- Develop PLC programs to control HVAC equipment supporting mission‑critical spaces
- Implement customer‑requested updates and modifications to existing control databases
- Provide technical input and support during customer‑facing meetings as needed
- Support field teams during system startup and commissioning, including on‑site and remote troubleshooting
- Provide technical guidance and coordination support to contractors and vendors as required by the project
- Debug installation issues during static and dynamic startup and commissioning phases
- Troubleshoot system errors and performance issues to ensure reliable operation
- Document programming logic, development processes, and project‑specific configurations
- 5+ years of experience as a PLC Programmer or PLC Engineer
- Minimum of 2 years of experience using Studio 5000
- Experience programming complex chiller and/or boiler systems (central plants)
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Self‑motivated, results‑oriented, and able to work independently
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative project environment
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with Ignition SCADA software
