Software Engineer Lead - JAVA/API/Spring

As a Software Engineer Sr.

within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA;
Cleveland, OH;
Dallas, TX ;
Jacksonville, FL or Miamisburg, OH. This position is primarily based in a location within PNC’s footprint.
This position will require weekly onsite time in one of the listed locations. It will support releases/incidents typically once per month.

Key Responsibilities

• Creates and leads the technical design and development of software solutions.
• Proposes & designs software solutions to address complex business needs; prepares technical and procedural documentation.
• Facilitates complex problem resolution.
• Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues; reviews coding, testing, and documentation of software.
• Applies modern principles, methodologies, and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.

Required Skills

• Knowledge in Object Oriented Analysis and Design.
• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining high‑transaction, distributed RESTful APIs and micro‑services.
• Strong Java hands‑on experience – Java 11+ preferred.
• Excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills.
• Strong working experience leveraging Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).

Preferred Tech Stack Experience

• Event‑driven architecture using Kafka/MQ.
• Experience with Kubernetes/Open Shift, cloud‑based container management.
• Proficiency in Oracle/SQL/MySQL, Redis, and Hibernate/ORMs.
• Unit testing frameworks (Spock/JUnit) and code quality platforms like Sonar Qube.
• CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and Logscale.
• Experience with Spring Boot (3+), Spring JPA, Spring Batch.

Additional Requirements

• University/College degree; 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• No required certifications or licenses.
