Garage​/Diesel Mechanic- Evenings

OVERVIEW

Primarily responsible for daily preventive maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the vehicles assigned as well as providing onsite emergency assistance as required when issues arise in the field.

• Performs basic Pre‑Trips on all various rolling stock.
• Performs all necessary paperwork associated with the assigned job, i.e. work orders and charge parts out.
• Drives various equipment safely on the lot or into the garage work area.
• Adjusts brakes and clutches to FMCSA standards.
• Performs all Category C tasks.
• Changes or replaces clutches, performs preventive maintenance on various equipment, and repairs hydraulics or hoses.
• Performs work assignments with minimal direction from the supervisor.
• Performs basic welding functions and can change out a variety of components related to equipment.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a valid driver's license (MVR check is a condition of employment).
• 2 years of garage/diesel mechanic experience preferred.
• ASC certification (preferred).
• Diesel certification (preferred).
• Ability to work with Insite software.
• In‑depth knowledge of fleet maintenance operations or transferable skill sets from similar industries.
• Ability to provide own tools.
• Follows Department of Transportation, state, and federal laws, and company safety policies and programs.
• Must be able to follow workplace safety rules, including PPE, preventing and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, lockout/tagout procedures, and process safety management‑related matters.
• Willing and capable of working overtime as required.
• Demonstrates excellent attendance and punctuality.
• Excellent communication skills.

• Occasionally works in an outside environment (including inclement weather).
• Lifts up to 75 lbs.
• Works around raw, live animal odors.
• Works in a noisy environment (>85 decibels) and moving equipment.
• Works nights, weekends, holidays, and long shifts.
• Must be able to work in a stationary position, laying, or on feet for the entire shift.
• Ability to multitask and work quickly.
• Ability to work with others in a close environment.
