H.W. Kaufman Group is seeking a Real Estate Accountant to manage the real estate component of the business. This individual will report directly into the V.P. of Real Estate and assist with all financial matters involving real estate of commercial buildings in the U.S. and as a tenant in U.S., Canada, London, U.K. and Europe.
Responsibilities
- Administer accounts receivable and payable functions
- Serve as the liaison between the accounting and construction departments on the build out of tenant spaces
- Research open items and correct any outstanding issues
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and other projects, as assigned
- Responsible for preparing financial reporting packages
- Preparation of monthly journal entries, bank account reconciliations, accruals, and inter-company transactions
- Create and administer annual budget process
- Responsible for year-end reconciliation of operating expenses between Landlord and Tenant for both owned and leased assets
- Review, brief and administer Leases within accounting software
- Responsible for preparation of year-end tax work papers and submissions to tax accountants
- Responsible for quarterly financial analysis of budget variances
- Responsible for cash flow projections for the real estate portfolio
- Prepare / Approve monthly rent roll for leased spaces
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial submissions to lenders
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years Real Estate Accounting experience required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and experience in preparation of periodic financial reporting packages
- Experience in preparation of periodic journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, detail-orientated
- Yardi experience is preferred but not required
