Pastor

Located in the northwestern suburbs of Detroit, Michigan, Chinese Bible Church is seeking a pastor who firmly believes the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and is committed to shepherding God’s people. The pastor will serve in unity with the church’s pastors, elders, and deacons to equip the saints - especially the Mandarin-speaking congregation (currently around 90 people, ranging in age from their 20s to over 80) - so that each member does their part to build up the body of Christ.

Applicants should have completed or be about to complete formal theological training, be able to preach in Mandarin and speak fluent English, and preferably have prior ministry experience in a North American Chinese church as well as legal authorization to work in the United States. • Serve as a member of the pastoral/elder team, leading and shepherding the Mandarin congregation.
• Oversee the Mandarin pulpit ministry and preach in combined services (Mandarin, Cantonese, and English).
• Administer church ordinances (baptism and communion).
• Teach Sunday School and other Bible study or training classes in Mandarin.
• Train, develop, and mentor coworkers, accompanying them in their spiritual growth and ministry.
• Be familiar with and involved in various ministries of the Mandarin congregation and the whole church.
• Participate in Mandarin fellowship group ministries under the existing structure.
• Conduct visitation, counseling, and other pastoral care ministries.
• Actively engage in personal and corporate evangelism.
• Serve on the Elder Board, Executive Board, and related committees.
• Perform necessary administrative duties and represent the church in community ministries.
• Carry out other pastoral tasks assigned by the Elder Board.
