Quality Engineer II – Wire Harness

Position located at the SEWS – Farmington Hills, Michigan Office. This is a Hybrid position combining in office and off‑site work. Associates are required to work at least three days in the office each week, while enjoying flexibility to work off‑site.
Basic PurposeQuality Engineer II to support all Rivian PPAPs and to assess and resolve issues. Coordinate with manufacturing facilities to meet PPAP dates and ensure all APQP deliverables are met.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Review with manufacturing facilities all PPAP deliverables to meet PPAP dates.
- Collaborate with teams on APQP deliverables for each launch phase.
- Maintain contact with customer quality representatives (SDE) to review product PPAP status throughout program phases.
- Participate in creating and/or interpreting quality‑related documentation for project design history files (APQP Plan, customer requirements, FMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, FPSO plans, etc.).
- Engage on teams that identify risks/hazards associated with product designs, processes, applications, and production phases.
- Monitor customer PPAP portals, assess perceptions, and make judgments regarding necessary actions during new product launch phases. Provide feedback to responsible organizations and ensure required improvement activities.
- Coordinate 8D problem‑solving for any customer concern during maturation until MP.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Quality or related field, plus 3‑5 years industry‑specific experience in automotive quality assurance or engineering.
- ASQ CQE level certification or equivalent (preferred). Certification or demonstrated equivalent ability in a technical problem‑solving discipline (Six Sigma, Shainin, Kepner‑Tregoe, etc.) is preferred.
- Knowledge of automotive OEM structure, manufacturing and technical demands, and customer relationships; at least 3 years of experience in Quality, Engineering and/or Design/Product Development Engineering in the automotive industry.
- Working knowledge of automotive EDS systems, components and reasonable proficiency in APQP process.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, product specifications, procedures and standards.
- Strong organization and communication skills, including presentation proficiency to all levels of customer management and staff.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
- Some on‑call and/or shift work is necessary and expected to support customer requirements.
- Proficient in standard MS Office PC/software applications and automotive OEM web applications.
