Position SummaryThis Bridge Engineer role supports the design, analysis, and evaluation of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and related transportation structures, contributing to high‑quality deliverables and advancing transportation infrastructure solutions.
Essential Job Functions- Design bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation structures.
- Perform plan production including 3D modeling and CAD.
- Conduct load rating analyses of bridges.
- Utilize structural design software and develop structural evaluation studies and structure‑type studies.
- Prepare estimated quantities, plan notes, and cost estimates.
- Complete site visits to support design activities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (structural focus a plus).
- Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification; intent to obtain PE licensure preferred.
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (a plus).
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Experience with Micro Station, Open Roads, AutoCAD, or Civil 3D preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to travel periodically (approximately 15% or more).
- Coursework or internship experience in structural or transportation engineering.
- Familiarity with bridge design codes such as AASHTO LRFD.
- Experience with structural analysis tools or bridge design software.
- Ability to perform occasional fieldwork, including walking on uneven terrain and exposure to outdoor conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds on occasion.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while completing office or design tasks.
- Office‑based work with intermittent outdoor site visits in variable weather conditions.
- Moderate noise levels typical of office and light field environments.
- Use of appropriate PPE during field activities as required.
- Full‑time position based in Farmington Hills, MI, with periodic travel to project sites.
