Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Legal Manager to lead our legal department with a focus on contested matters and litigation strategy. In this role, you will oversee case management, supervise a team of legal professionals, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. You will play a critical role in minimizing legal risk, maximizing recovery efforts, and safeguarding the organization’s interests while fostering strong client relationships.
Responsibilities- Lead and direct the legal department in handling all contested matters.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop legal staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Design and implement effective litigation strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Oversee the preparation, filing, and management of pleadings, motions, and other case-related documents.
- Provide timely legal guidance to leadership and operations teams regarding case progress and strategic options.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients regarding contested matters; provide status updates, legal recommendations, and settlement options.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, contracts, and settlement agreements.
- Partner with operations, compliance, and client service teams to align legal strategies with organizational goals.
- Support internal stakeholders by ensuring legal risks are identified and addressed proactively.
- Monitor changes in legislation and legal precedents, advising leadership on potential impacts.
- Update and implement internal policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate potential legal risks across contested matters and recovery efforts.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in litigation, experience in creditor’s rights/collections a plus.
- Prior leadership or management experience overseeing legal teams preferred.
- Strong knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance.
