Optometrist –
Connecticut Children’s
The licensed optometrist provides high quality optometric and vision care services including examination, diagnosis, treatment, and management of disorders of the visual system, eye diseases, and injuries. The optometrist also prescribes eyeglasses or contact lenses as needed.
Responsibilities- Provides and ensures patients receive appropriate routine eye exams and urgent care, as well as other vision care that is appropriate for the care setting.
- Provides additional specialized testing and therapy such as vision therapy or low‑vision rehabilitation as needed.
- Ensures that referrals are made in a timely manner to specialists or other providers when medically necessary.
- Ensures that the documentation of care in the medical records meets established quality standards.
- Acts as a day‑to‑day resource to Ophthalmology and other departments regarding vision care issues.
- Assists in responding to patient concerns about care issues and works to solve problems and improve patient care.
- Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.
- May supervise clinical staff.
Education and/or Experience Required
- Graduate of an accredited college or university in the school of Optometry.
- Previous experience working in pediatrics.
- Previous experience in customer service.
- Current and valid state license as an Optometrist.

Help patients feel at ease during examination. - Speaking skills:
Clearly explain eye‑care instructions to patients and answer questions. - Adhere to professional standards of conduct, ethical standards, and CCMC Code of Conduct.
