Special Education Paraprofessional - East Farms Elementary

East Farms Elementary is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional.

Position is 6.5 hours per day, during the school year.

Position includes 8 paid holidays, 12 sick days, 3 personal days. Eligible for health insurance, $30,000 life insurance, and long-term disability.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A. Candidate should hold an Associate's degree or 2 years of college diploma or its equivalent (i.e., Para Professional Assessment). Bachelor's degree preferred.

B. Candidate should demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain a good rapport with students and possess a personable relationship with teachers.

C. Consideration will be given to the following:

• Ability to carry out directions in both oral and written form.
• Various life/work experiences that contribute to the candidate's overall preparedness. Prior experience working with school-age children is a plus.

SALARY: Starting at $24.18 per hour (per FPSEU contract)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Special Service Paraprofessional will provide personal care/hygiene (e.g., lifting up to 50 pounds and toileting) and assist with medication regimens. The paraprofessional may also provide various instructional services and classroom support, including carrying out teacher-prepared lesson plans, supervising activities, assisting in material preparation, and recording student progress. The position requires a cooperative working relationship with teachers.
