The Elementary Professional Development Substitute Teacher is responsible for providing instruction and classroom management for students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The substitute teacher ensures a productive learning environment, follows lesson plans, and adapts instruction to meet the needs of students.
Key Responsibilities- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher to ensure continuity of instruction.
- Manage the classroom by maintaining student behavior and enforcing school rules and policies.
- Deliver instructional material in a clear, engaging, and effective manner.
- Provide supervision for students during lunch, recess, and other non‑instructional times as needed.
- Address and support the individual needs of students, providing additional guidance or assistance when necessary.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents when necessary.
- Ensure the safety and well‑being of students at all times.
- Report any issues or concerns to the regular teacher or principal.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior experience working with children or in an educational setting is a plus.
- Ability to manage a classroom and adapt to a variety of teaching situations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience, flexibility, and the ability to work in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
- Knowledge of basic educational principles and practices.
