The State of Connecticut, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is a modern, free‑standing facility located on the UCONN Health Center Campus in Farmington, CT. The OCME investigates sudden and unexpected deaths that fall under state jurisdiction. We are recruiting for a part‑time Forensic Technician I to work a 2‑week rotating schedule.
Schedule & CompensationHours: Monday–Friday 9:00 am–4:30 pm, Saturday–Sunday 8:00 am–3:30 pm (28 hours per week). On‑call and holiday coverage is required.

- Prepare bodies for autopsies and subsequent release to funeral directors.
- Assist in the performance of autopsies and collection of relevant information.
- Assist in the removal and dissection of organs, collection of body fluids, and retention of specimens for special studies.
- Prepare fixative solutions and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of autopsy facilities and equipment.
- Maintain appropriate records and assist in record‑keeping.
- Pick up decomposed and traumatized bodies; take inventory of clothing and valuables; maintain chain of custody of body and evidence from crime scenes.
- Take fingerprints and photographs; take and develop X‑rays; assist in removal of bodies from hospitals and/or secured crime‑scene areas.
- One (1) year of experience in related work in a morgue, laboratory, hospital, or funeral home.
- Current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- One (1) year of experience in a morgue, laboratory, hospital, or funeral home.
- Availability for emergency on‑call calls.
- Experience lifting bodies of various weights and sizes.
- Willingness to undergo periodic immunizations for communicable diseases.
- Possession and retention of a current Connecticut Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Availability for emergency calls and travel if required.
- Willingness to undergo periodic tests or immunizations for communicable diseases as necessary.
- Required to lift bodies; exposure to strongly disagreeable conditions.
