Server - Captain

The Banquet Server Captain is responsible for leading banquet service staff and ensuring events run smoothly and provide an excellent guest experience. This role oversees the setup, service, and breakdown of events while making sure associates follow service standards, safety procedures, and company policies. The Banquet Server Captain serves as a point of contact between the banquet team, management, and event staff.

• Lead and coordinate banquet servers during events to ensure timely, professional, and consistent service.

• Assist with assigning duties and communicating event details, service expectations, and timelines to banquet staff.

• Oversee event setup, including tables, chairs, linens, place settings, buffet stations, and other service requirements.

• Ensure banquet rooms and service areas are clean, organized, and properly prepared before, during, and after events.

• Monitor food and beverage service to ensure accuracy, presentation, and timely delivery.

• Communicate with the Banquet Manager, culinary team, and event coordinators regarding guest needs, schedule changes, and service concerns.

• Assist with training and coaching banquet associates on service standards, proper procedures, and guest relations.

• Address guest questions and concerns professionally and elevate issues to management when appropriate.

• Monitor staff performance and reinforce expectations for attendance, punctuality, teamwork, and professional conduct.

• Ensure associates follow food safety, sanitation, alcohol service, and workplace safety requirements.

• Promote a respectful, professional, and inclusive work environment consistent with company policies.

• Report workplace concerns, incidents, injuries, or policy violations to management promptly.

• Assist with inventory, equipment checks, and the proper handling and storage of banquet supplies.

• Perform banquet serving duties as needed, including carrying trays, serving meals, clearing tables, and assisting with event breakdown.

• Complete additional duties as assigned by the Banquet Manager.

• Previous banquet, catering, or hospitality experience required.

• Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

• Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.

• Ability to lead a team and remain professional in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to resolve guest and employee concerns appropriately.

• Knowledge of banquet service standards, food safety, and sanitation practices.

• Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to lift and carry banquet supplies, trays, and equipment as needed.

• Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout event spaces.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and perform physical tasks associated with banquet service.

Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on event schedules.

The Banquet Server Captain is expected to lead by example, maintain professional standards, communicate effectively, and hold team members accountable for following company policies and service expectations. As a member of the banquet leadership team, this position is responsible for helping create a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for both associates and guests.
