* Position Overview:

** This position is part of the Enterprise Services – Data & AI organization within RTX Corporate, supporting the company’s mission to develop and scale AI capabilities responsibly and securely across the enterprise.

The Applied AI Engineer designs and builds AI-enabled applications that enhance productivity and decision-making across RTX. This hands-on role focuses on developing reusable components, autonomous workflows, and multi-agent patterns that demonstrate measurable business value from modern AI technologies.

* What You Will Do:

*** Build and deploy AI applications that leverage large language models (LLMs) and agentic reasoning frameworks to perform complex, multi-step tasks.
* Design and implement context-aware orchestration, tool-use, and memory mechanisms that allow AI systems to operate autonomously within defined boundaries.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders to prototype AI copilots and digital assistants that augment human workflows in engineering, sustainment, and operations.
* Develop reusable SDKs, documentation, and internal demos to accelerate adoption of AI capabilities.
* Partner with platform and MLOps teams to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and governed.
** Qualifications You Must Have:
*** Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
* Python & Type Script for AI apps; LLM frameworks (Lang Chain, Auto Gen, Semantic Kernel)
* Agentic AI concepts; vector search (Pinecone, FAISS, Azure AI Search)
* Cloud AI services & APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI, Bedrock)
** Qualifications We Prefer:
*** Hands-on experience building and deploying agents for business use cases (e.g., workflow orchestration, data transformation or analysis, multi-agent system)
* Understanding of prompt engineering, contextual retrieval, and self-reflective agent design.
* Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and secure API development.
* Strong communication skills and ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

** This is a hybrid role, eligible candidates must reside within commuting distance from Farmington, CT, additional locations will be considered MA, TX, IA, CA
