Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Director to join our growing Personal Lines Auto team in our Farmington, CT office. The Director will report directly to the VP of Claims of the Independent Agent channel and will oversee the FNOL operation and the PD Claims handling teams.
The FNOL/PD Director is a key part of the executive team at Plymouth Rock. In this role, you will brief senior executives (VP, CCO, and COO) on emerging FNOL/PD claim‑handling activity, industry trends, and new tools/processes that can improve efficiency. Your input will directly affect day‑to‑day operations and the strategic planning for the claims department and Plymouth Rock Auto operations.
We expect this Director to lead creative initiatives and an energized group of employees that provides a sustainable advantage over our competition.
Responsibilities- Define and execute the long‑term strategy for the FNOL/PD teams: develop and implement new strategies, processes, and tools that improve efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with other PD Directors to do the same for the PD claim‑handling team.
- Drive innovation: identify and implement innovative solutions to claims challenges, using new technologies, developing training programs, and creating new approaches to achieve objectives.
- Manage resources efficiently: oversee budgets, personnel, and technology. Develop and manage budgets, hire and train staff, and ensure the team has the necessary resources.
- Coach and develop talent: provide one‑on‑one coaching, mentor high‑potential leaders, and partner with the training and development team to create individualized plans and succession strategies.
- Lead and deliver results: hold full management accountability for staff, emphasizing talent management and succession planning in alignment with corporate strategy.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and other organizational members to develop and implement claim policies, business strategies, and goals, regularly evaluating performance and holding teams accountable.
- Keep current on state/territory regulations, industry trends, and represent the company in trade groups.
- Ensure compliance with quality assurance programs, claim file calibration, and monthly performance reviews.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited four‑year college or university.
- +8 years of related claims experience, including familiarity with FNOL/call‑center‑like operations management.
- Experience managing a team of 25–30 claim associates (managers, supervisors, and professionals).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop and execute strategy and deliver operational excellence with a strong performance‑improvement mindset and data‑driven decision making.
- Motivation and inspiration skills to maintain high colleague engagement across the claim department.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, One Note, PowerPoint, Excel) and business‑related software (e.g., Tableau or other reporting tools).
$137,500 to $182,000 annually. Actual compensation varies based on knowledge, experience, role scope, business needs, location, and internal equity.
