Job Goal: To provide support for scheduling and administrative tasks within the Special Education Department.

Qualifications
  • Effective Communication & Interpersonal Skills are highly valued in this position
  • Strong organization skills and ability to switch tasks easily
  • Proficient use of technology including basic operating systems, Google Suite & Apple products.
  • Knowledge of Special Education law preferred
Certifications
  • Maine DOE Certification - CHRC
Performance Responsibilities
  • Schedule IEPs with Administrators, Teachers, & Guardians
  • Process paperwork associated with IEPs
  • Support Special Education Office functions
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned
Education
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience in a school setting
Experience
  • 2+ years in a fast‑paced office setting
  • Experience with special education preferred
  • Experience as an Educational Technician or Special Education Teacher may replace secretarial experience
Working Schedule
  • This is a full‑time, year‑round position (260 days)
  • Working hours Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm (with paid lunch)
  • Paid holidays, vacation & sick time
Travel Requirements
  • Minimal travel required, but may need to visit individual schools on occasion
  • Must have reliable transportation

Reports To: Director of Special Education

Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.

Evaluation: Completed annually by the Director of Special Education or their designee.

FLSA Status: Non‑exempt
