Responsibilities- Investigates offender’s home, work and social environments for circuit courts/Parole Board; collects, verifies and evaluates data; incorporates findings into reports and records; assesses needs and risk levels to determine appropriate supervision strategies to ensure effective offender management and public safety; and submits reports to designated legal authorities.
- Contacts offenders in their homes, places of employment or confinement and counsels them regarding personal and adjustment problems; attends court to receive assignments and make reports.
- Assists in vocational, educational and social adjustment planning for assigned offenders; cooperates with public and private agencies and law‑enforcement agencies; investigates offender violations; takes appropriate action including issuance of warrants.
- Prepares statistical reports of activities; administers and observes breathalyzer and urinalysis testing; assists in special investigations, research projects and other activities; serves on committees and task forces within the Department and community; performs other related work as assigned; and as the employee becomes more experienced or demonstrates proficiency, levels of supervision become more general.
- Possesses a valid vehicle operator’s license.
- Successfully completes safety training including defensive tactics and is able to re‑qualify annually.
- A $2.00 per hour shift differential if you are assigned to a shift that begins on or between 12:00 pm (noon) and 5:00 am and are employed at a 24/7 congregate care facility.
- A $0.75 per hour maximum security stipend if you work full‑time at a qualifying facility.
- A $1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend if you are assigned a regular post within a restrictive housing/segregation unit at any facility.
- Four (4) or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant or higher within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
- OR four (4) or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework / custody, law enforcement, guidance / counseling, mental health, health, substance use, public/business administration, or experience closely related to the listed responsibilities; AND possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.
- (Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)
